Fernando S. Arán
Fernando S. Arán, is a partner of the Firm and joined Annesser Armenteros, PLLC in January 2024 and is the head of our Real Property and Real Estate team.
Mr. Arán was born in Havana, Cuba on July 25, 1957. He attended Belen Jesuit Preparatory School and graduated in 1975. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Miami, where he graduated Cum Laude in 1978 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in accounting. He attended the Georgetown University Law Center where he received his Juris Doctor degree in 1981. Upon graduation from Georgetown, he went to work as an associate with the law firm of Smathers & Thompson. Smathers & Thompson merged with the New York law firm of Kelley Drye & Warren in July of 1987 and Fernando stayed with the firm until the formation of Arán Correa & Guarch, P.A. in 1990.
Mr. Arán is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar and served on the Florida Board of Bar Examiners from 1996 to 2001, and during the last year of his term he served as the Chair. Mr. Arán still serves on the Board as an Emeritus Member. Mr. Arán served on the Florida Bar’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono Legal Services, and was the Chair of the Florida Bar’s Eleventh Judicial Grievance Committee “J” Section. He is a member of the American Bar Association, and served on the American Bar Association’s Forum on the Construction Industry–Specialty Trade Contractors and Supplies Division.
Mr. Arán is also a member of the Dade County Bar Association and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He is past president of the Cuban American Bar Association, past president of the Southeast Region of the Hispanic National Bar Association, and past president of the United States Propeller Club, Port of Miami. Mr. Arán has been a member of the Boy Scouts of America since the age of 11, he is an Eagle Scout and currently serves on the Executive Board of the South Florida Council and served as Vice President of the Southern Region-Boy Scouts of America. He was the President of the South Florida Council—Boy Scouts of America in 2005 and 2006.
Mr. Arán was also a founder and past President of the Belen Alumni Association of Jesuit Schools. Mr. Arán was a member of FACE (Facts About Cuban Exiles). Mr. Arán was also selected by the U.S. Department of Defense to attend the Joint Civilian Orientation Conference 79 (JCOC ’79). The JCOC is an official program of the Department of Defense to acquaint leading citizens with the programs and policies as they relate to our national defense. He is also a Member of DOCA (Defense Orientation Conference Association). DOCA is a non-political, non-partisan, non-profit association directed toward the interest of national defense without special advocacy of any particular military service or defense concept.
His areas of practice are commercial and construction law, intellectual property rights, maritime law, and real estate matters.
